    How to use this tool

    1. Set the canvas dimensions and draw with pencils, shapes or fill. Adjust zoom and the grid.
    2. Use layers, opacity, symmetry and selection movement; duplicate frames and preview them.
    3. Export PNG, a sprite sheet or GIF, or save an editable project JSON file.

    A small two-frame animation

    Input and settings
32×32 canvas, two frames, 4 FPS
    Result
A current-frame PNG, horizontal sprite sheet or looping GIF

    Keep editing reversible

An undo state is recorded after a stroke, allowing erase, fill and selection movement to be reversed. Selections affect the active layer. Use layer arrows to reorder and opacity controls to change blending; hidden layers are omitted from the exported picture.

    Project files versus flattened pictures

PNG and GIF are flattened pictures and do not retain editable layer structure. A project JSON preserves canvas, frames and layers for reopening. Work is not automatically written to persistent browser storage, so download a project before leaving. GIF uses a fixed quantized palette and can differ in color from a PNG.

    Common questions

Can I reopen an older Toolweb project?

Supported Toolweb pixel-project formats are validated before loading. A damaged file or one exceeding size and layer limits is rejected while preserving current work. Export an image from another editor when its native project format is unsupported.
