    A square profile picture

    Input and settings
    Choose 1:1 on a 640×480 picture
    Result
A centered 480×480 crop; move the selection to reposition the face.

    Selection versus saved result

The shaded outside area is excluded from the saved picture. Drawing another selection never changes your original file; undo and reset restore earlier settings. Crop coordinates refer to the top-left corner of the picture after its rotation has been applied.

Inspect rotation and the crop boundary

Rotation is in 90-degree steps, with horizontal and vertical flipping. Rotating swaps dimensions and resets the selection to the complete picture so you can choose a fresh boundary. Cropping removes pixels; it does not erase an object and reconstruct what was behind it.

    Common questions

Can I crop with a keyboard?

Arrow keys move the selection and resize the focused corner handle. You can also enter X, Y, width and height directly in the advanced crop controls.
