Building a URL does not itself start collecting visits/conversions.
Processing rules and reading the result
URL/URLSearchParams encode values and retain ordinary query parameters. The five supplied UTM fields replace existing names; empty optional values remove them. Fragments remain unless removal is selected.
Limits and checks before use
Base URLs support 8,000 characters; each UTM value supports 300. Only HTTP(S) without embedded credentials is accepted. URLs can be public: do not include email addresses, customer IDs or secret tokens in UTM values.
Common questions
Is casing normalized automatically?
Only source and medium are lowercased when that option is selected. Other fields retain their entered spelling.
