Processing options

Input and results are processed in this browser, without saving them to a server, URL or persistent browser storage. Clipboard content and downloaded files may remain on your device.

How to use this tool

  1. Choose encoding or decoding.
  2. Choose component mode (default) or whole-URL mode.
  3. Use space/+ conversion only for form-style data.

Encode an ampersand inside a query value

Input and settings
a b&c
Result
a%20b%26c

Component encoding; form mode changes spaces to +.

Processing rules and reading the result

Component mode uses encodeURIComponent/decodeURIComponent; whole mode uses encodeURI/decodeURI. Whole mode retains structural reserved characters, so use component mode for one query value.

Limits and checks before use

Up to 500,000 characters. Malformed percent sequences or incomplete Unicode produce an error. URLs are not fetched, opened or checked for safety/existence.

Common questions

What happens if I encode an already encoded value?

Percent signs may become %25, causing double encoding. Check whether the current value is already encoded.
