- Syntax example 123-45-67891
- Result
- Check digit 1 matches; registration is not verified
A checksum is not a registry lookup
A weighted calculation over the first nine digits is compared with the final digit. It can catch some typing mistakes but does not establish that a number was issued. An all-zero value is not presented as valid.
Checking a counterparty
No company name, owner, operating status or closure date is retrieved. A matching checksum does not establish existence or transaction safety; use the official business-status service when that information is needed.
Common questions
Does passing mean the business is operating?
No. Only the number’s internal structure is checked. Suspension, closure, misuse and owner details cannot be determined from this result.
