Encode a short UTF-8 string
- Input and settings
- Hello
- Result
- SGVsbG8=
Base64url output omits trailing = padding.
Processing rules and reading the result
TextEncoder produces UTF-8 bytes for Base64 encoding. Decoding checks the alphabet, padding and unused bits, then requires valid UTF-8. Spaces, tabs and line breaks in encoded input are ignored.
Limits and checks before use
Up to 500,000 input and 2 million output characters. Arbitrary image/archive bytes are not decoded as text. Base64 is encoding, not encryption, and does not conceal secrets securely.
Common questions
Does a decoding error prove the data is corrupted?
The wrong variant may be selected, or the bytes may not be UTF-8 text. Check the original data format.
