How to choose a comparison unit and read the result
Line, word, and character units
Line mode is easiest for moved paragraphs or code-line changes; word mode suits wording edits inside a sentence. Use character mode for typos, punctuation, or combined characters. Unified view follows change order in one flow, while split view aligns the original and revision side by side.
Check before applying ignore options
Ignoring whitespace collapses repeated spaces and trims both ends; ignoring case lowercases by the current page locale. Keep these options off first for indentation-sensitive code or YAML and case-sensitive identifiers. Before exporting, retain the source and record the selected unit and options with the result.
